it really fucking sucks what cis people did to the term ‘genderbent’ and how they twisted it like. 

having a character be a gender they are not acknowledged as in canon doesn’t necessarily have to be a transphobic thing ( for example. a lot of non binary headcanons could technically also fall under this very same category, without being cissexist or erasing/invalidating trans people ). 

but instead of using it to do awesome things and include trans people, cis people use it to make male characters into hentai worthy girls, or to avoid their ‘otp’ to be gay. they use something that could’ve been incredibly inclusive to once again ignore trans peoples’ existence, all for their own entertainment.

it’s understandable that girls want to see more female characters and use it as a way of coping, but the practice has become so horrendously transphobic due to the way it’s been handled by cis people for so long, and therefor the word ‘genderbent’ makes me cringe.

and i really hate that.
